Turning Beeps into Music: The L2Ork Tweeter Process

For my latest assignment in my CT+E Play to Make course here at Virginia Tech, we have been given the task to make a song with our group mates using L2Ork Tweeter, a collaborative telematic music making software.
Prior to this assignment I had never really touched the software, but thankfully my professor did have a tutorial video that laid down the basics for the software. So after I watched the video, I got right to work. And in all honesty, it did not go well to begin with. I mainly was just going through the presets and saving the ones that I liked and trying to make some sort of melody (or in all honesty just anything that sounded good) out of them.
I had some trouble when it came to getting the audio to stay consistently on, but I found out that I just had to close and re-open the software to fix it. It was annoying but nothing I couldn't really work around.
On my own, I was actually able to make a couple of beats/sections. The first one that I made was just a simple 8-bit sounding riff like beat. It had quick changing notes, but it wasn't too complicated. I felt like it could really be put into any song, since it was so simple, and with just a little tweeking I could change the
sound of it to reflect something not as sharp as the 8-bit sound.

The second piece is the one that I actually liked the most out of the two. It was more of an atmospheric sounding beat that has a lot of reverb and made it a loop. This allowed it to build on itself and made it so that it would be a very, very good backing track.

When we met as a group, we had most people in person, except for a couple of people who were on zoom, but were still able to communicate very clearly. The first thing we did was show the group what things we made on our own. In doing so we found the pieces that people made that worked well with each other and we began to build off that. My backing track was chosing to be on of the backing track for our song,
which I was really happy about because I put a lot
of time into it.
Our group plans to meet two more times so that we can continue to develop the song as well practice for when we have to perform the piece.
Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a great day!
